Add TXT records to setup your custom sending domain
What is a domain?
Domain is the address of your website that people type in the browser URL bar to visit your website. In simple terms, if your website was a house, then your domain name will be its address.
For example: google.com, facebook.com, vify.io
Why you should setup a Custom Sending Domain
There are many reasons why merchants should setup their own custom email sending domain, but the main reason is that it creates a unified brand experience for their customers (i.e. customers can recognize the brand name in the sender's email address). For that reason, we'd recommend ALL merchants to setup a custom sending domain.
What is a TXT record ?
TXT records are a type of Domain Name System (DNS) record that contains text information for sources outside of your domain. You add these records to your domain settings. You can use TXT records for various purposes. For example, Google uses them to verify domain ownership and to ensure email security.
How to Setup a Custom Sending Domain
To setup your domain using TXT records, please follow the instructions below:
In our app, go to Settings -> Email brading, and add your name and email address (with the custom domain).
The domain must be the one that you have access to to update CNAME records.
After hitting Save, the list of records will be displayed on the bottom screen, with the status of Verified/Not Verified
Go to your domain management website (usually where you purchased the domain, it could be Shopify, GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc)
You must have access to that platform to proceed further, so please ask the authorized personnel if needed.
We will use Shopify in this case, but if you purchase from another platform, the process should be similar
On Shopify, go to Settings -> Domains, Click on the domain which has Primary for Online Store under it's name
Then, click on the Domain settings in the top right corner > Choose Edit DNS Settings
In the Add custom record drop down list select TXT record:
In the windows that appears, copy the value under Host field on our app and paste it to Name field on Shopify
The same with Value field on our app to Points To field on Shopify
NOTE: The dmarc record is only optional, and if you already have an existing dmarc record in your system, you don't have to add it again
Hit Authenticate on our app, and let the system do its work
The verification process might take some time to finish, and you can hit the Check status button to manually check.
Once verified, the status boxes will turn green, and your domain is good to go
